Mandatory Vaccination Policy To Begin In January 2022

The mandatory vaccination policy is to be enforced from January, 2022 by the Ghana Police Service. The Minister of Health, Mr Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, announced the modalities of the policy during the launch of the National Vaccination Month yesterday.

In accordance with this policy, the police will inspect the COVID 19 vaccination cards of all commercial drivers and motor riders. In addition, certificates of all workers of government institutions and health facilities will be inspected before they are allowed into their various workplaces. People who absent themselves from work for this reason will not be awarded their salaries.

Also, patrons and workers of restaurants, stadiums, beaches and night clubs would have to show proof of vaccination before they are allowed into the premises.

Students 15 and above, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff are not being exempted and are also expected to be vaccinated before the next academic year.

The minister of Health said that the declaration of December as a National Vaccination Month would enable targeted people and even the entire generation get vaccinated before the policy begins.
