The National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS has embarked on a week celebration to educate the public on linking the Ghana Health Insurance card to Ghana Card across the nation.
This initiative is part of government’s policy to interlink various platforms through digitalization.
The Celebration which was launched in Accra under the theme, NHIS: Using The Ghana Card for Expanding Access to Healthcare commenced from Tuesday 15 November to Sunday 21 November.
Speaking on the celebration, the Western Regional Public Relations Officer, Richard Morchia mentioned that, it is the vision of the Scheme to get a majority of Ghanaians on board.
He added that Healthcare of people is very paramount and should not be downplayed but made accessible and affordable to everyone
Mr. Morchia encouraged subscribers and non- subscribers to take advantage of the celebration and get registered onto the Scheme.
“As part of our celebration, our customers get to renew their cards in the comfort of their homes through mobile phones. For those who have not registered yet, they can be enrolled on the Scheme without any hussle. ” He said.
Meanwhile, Madam Aba Walters disclosed that there have been an improvement in the services as well as other benefits customers can enjoy.
She outlined that childhood cancer and family planning is now covered by the health insurance, thus called on parents to register their wards to access the goodies of the Scheme.
The public also are advised to visit NHIS offices in their localities such as Effiakuma, Shama and it’s environs for registration and enrollment onto the Scheme.
