Paa Kwesi Simpson of Connect Fm Granted GH50,000 Bail With Two Surities

The embattled media personality, Paa Kwesi Simpson who is in the center of a case of involving the kidnapping of Stephanie Kumiwaa has been granted bail of GH¢ 50,000 with two sureties. Mr. Simpson’s arrest comes on the back of a false publication of the kidnapping case.

On November, 4, Mr. Simpson was remanded by the Takoradi Circuit Court A together with Stephen Kumi, the boyfriend of the kidnapped victim for spreading fake reports of the alleged kidnapping in Mpohor, of the Western Region.

The arrest was purposely made with a charge of false publication of news with the intent to cause fear and panic.

Mr. Simpson after being granted bail on November 8, is expected to turn up to the police every Monday at 11 am pending the hearing of the case.

The Presiding Judge at the Sekondi High Court 1, Justice Dr. Richmond Osei Hwere noted that all though all offences are bailable, it is at the discretion of the court, describing the bail application as applicable as sympathetic which needs consideration.

Mr. P. Kwesi Simpson is however standing trial with Stephen Kumi for peddling false news with the intention of causing fear and uneasiness in the public domain.
