WR: Some COVID-19 Immunisation Centers will not start work today -Public Health
Western Regional deputy director of public health has advised the general public to take notice of the fact that not all designated COVID-19 Centers in the officially published lists will start operating today, 1st September 2021, and some days ahead due to inadequate supply.
According to Dr. Gifty Amugi, it is important for the general public to appreciate the challenges associated with securing vaccines on the global stage, therefore there is no way all the expected supplies will be available at all centers for immunization.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Adzekye Mu Nsem on Spice Fm 91.9, she also added that all centers will ultimately get their share of the vaccines to begin the immunization process overtime when supply is made available.
“Not all the centers in the various districts will start work today, some centers will be activated, as and when supply is available, we know the challenges the world is going through with regards to the supply of Vaccines”
She went ahead to urge the general public to inquire on when inactive centers will start working that is either at the already existing centers or at a health directorate.
AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson are the two major types of vaccines expected to be used in the Western Region.
Dr. Gifty Amugi finally cautioned “citizens who have taken the AstraZeneca to stay away from Johnson and Johnson since that is for only the first-timers”
