The Western Regional MTTD Commander, Chief Supt Supkah Isaac, has suggested that transport stakeholders could come together and deliberate on increasing the quota given to women who drive commercial vehicles since such a move has the potential of saving more lives.
According to him, the total number of vehicle crushes involving men and women stood at 58 and 12 respectively from January to June 2022.
He added the available data is a clear indication that women are more careful and risk averse when it comes to driving compared to men hence the lower rate of accident among women who drive commercial Vehicles.
