Fix Juaboso-Nkwanta-Asawinso Highway To Reduce Crime – Police Commander

The deplorable Juaboso-Nkwanta-Asawinso highway

Juaboso District Police Commander, Superintendent Samuel Ntosoh has appealed to the Juaboso District Assembly and the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to get the Juaboso-Nkwanta-Asawinso highway fixed to reduce the constant robbery attacks on passengers and drivers who use the road.

He noted that the road has lots of potholes which makes it difficult to go the required speed thereby making it unsafe for drivers.

Supt. Ntosoh who made the appeal when confirming an armed robbery attack on some passengers traveling to and from the deplorable road added that the road lies between a forest which makes it prone to robbery attacks on commuters and drivers alike.

He stressed, “because the road has thick forest around it, armed robbers use it as cover to perpetrate their heinous crimes. So this can be a factor. We plead with stakeholders to intervene and get the road constructed”.

Giving a brief on the robbery incident, he explained that they had a tip-off early in the morning that some suspected armed robbers were in the middle of the road robbing people.

“It was at dawn today when people started calling that there was a robbery attack on the highway, in the middle of Juaboso-Nkwanta-Asawinso highway. So my men and I went there. Upon reaching there, we saw a motor lying in the middle of the road, whose rider we were told was shot. We looked into the bush for any signal but didn’t see anybody”, he stated.

According to him, they heard later that the rider had been found at Asawinso and when they got there, the rider explained that he was returning from work when he chanced on the robbery.

Supt. Ntosoh added that in the afternoon of the same day, the police had a call that there was another ongoing robbery by armed men and upon that rushed to the scene but could not have traces of the armed robbers.

“By the time we got to the scene, the robbers had already done with their operations and left. However, police have begun investigations into the matter as suspects are on the run”, he stated.
