CoST STMA Launches Second Assurance Report Today

Construction Sector Transparency (CoST), Sekondi-Takoradi Chapter Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG) is set to launch its Second Assurance Report today Thursday, 18th March, 2021 at 10am in Takoradi to disseminate findings and recommendations from its maiden Assurance Process to create awareness on CoST.

The launch is also to build citizens and stakeholder interest in using disclosed infrastructure information to influence performance and transparency in the delivery of infrastructure projects within the participating Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Western Region.

CoST Sekondi-Takoradi is the subnational Chapter of CoST International that aims at increasing transparency and accountability in publicly-funded projects within the Western Region through institutionalization of core features of Disclosure, Assurance, Multi-Stakeholder Working and Social Accountability.

In a letter signed by Eugene Fredua Ofori-Atta, Chairman of MSG and copied to Spice News, the awareness creation and dissemination event comes after an intensive five (5) months of data collection, analysis and validation of eight (8) infrastructure projects from 8 MMDAs in the region.

The 8 MMDAs include Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, Ahanta West Municipal Assembly, Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Mpohor District Assembly, Shama District Assembly, Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and Wassa East District Assembly.

It said the Assurance Process was conducted by a team of Assurance Professionals from Takoradi Technical University (TTU) appointed by the MSG to carry the project.
