Western Region records 12 new COVID-19 cases in a day
Madam Gifty Eugenia Kusi, Deputy Western Regional Minister has hinted that the Western Region has eighteen (18) active COVID-19 cases with the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis (STMA) recording the highest with fifteen (15) cases while 12 of the cases recorded three days ago.
She has therefore called for a co-ordinated approach by all stakeholders to ensure that the health and safety protocols are adhered to by all as we inch closer to the Christmas and the New Year festivities.
“Let us all remind ourselves that COVID-19 is still around and that we are not yet out of the woods”, she emphasized.
Madam Kusi gave the hint at an ongoing joint meeting of Heads of Department (HODs) of the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) and Heads of other Public Sector Institutions in Takoradi.
She pointed out that the safety protocols which are the washing of hands with soap under running water, rubbing the hands with alcohol-based sanitizer, wearing of nose mask and observing social distancing at crowded areas were the surest way to defeat the coronavirus.
According to her, there is no doubt that the COVID-19 global pandemic disrupted planned activities for the year however, modest successes have been chalked in the various fields of endeavours.
She therefore advised the HODs to deploy innovative means to overcome the challenges and share their success stories with others so that they can emulate the same to also achieve success.
