Voting takes off smoothly at Ahanta West

Hospital Polling Center ‘A’ and ‘B’

Electoral materials were received around 4:30 am in almost all the 173 Polling Centers in the Ahanta West Constituency in the Western Region whereas voting started at 7:00 am without hitches at all the Centers visited.

All COVID-19 safety protocols were observed with security presence and political party representatives all available with a long queue seen in the early morning but complying with electoral procedures. 

The atmosphere was generally calm at the Centers though there was a slight downpour that did not last more than thirty minutes.

Old Dixcove Station Center ‘A’

As of 8:13 am, 36 people had voted out of the expected 421 registered voters at the Post Office Agona-Nkwanta polling center.

One person was verified by the facial recognition device.

At the Hospital Polling Center ‘A’, 60 people out of the expected 396 registered voters had cast their ballots as of 8:22 am while 41 had voted out of the expected 394 registered voters at the center ‘B’.

At the Old Dixcove Station Center ‘A’, 48 had cast their ballots as of 8:25 am out of the expected 451 registered voters while 34 had voted out of the expected 451 registered voters at the Center ‘B’.

Piado Post Office Center in Upper Dixcove had 76 voters as of 9:15 am while Paradise Community Center in Lower Dixcove had 44 voters as of 9:20 am.

At the Chemical Shop Center where the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum was expected to cast his ballot, 65 people had voted as of 9:25 am out of the expected 379.

However, there was no security official at the Center as of the time the Spice Newss got there.

At the Ohiamankyene Community Center at Lower Dixcove, 58 people had voted as of 9:30 am while the Chief’s Palace Center had seen 90 voters as of 9:38 am.

Meanwhile, the Shankama Community Center at Lower Dixcove had 101 voters as of 10:12 am out of the expected 518 voters, while the Dixcove Castle Center had recorded 79 voters as of 10:40 am.

Mr Benjamin Essuam, Presiding Officer at the Center told Spice News that the electoral materials arrived at 4:30 am while one spoilt ballot was recorded so far.

Madam Augustine Samevi, Presiding Officer at the Methodist Primary School Center mentioned that 148 people had voted as of 11:22 am.

Meanwhile, the Center had recorded two spoilt ballots with no incidents.
