Rawlings never bought beans on credit, 11-11 beans seller clears
Contrary to assertions that Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings bought ‘gari and beans’ locally called “yor ke gari” without paying while at the Airforce Training School in Takoradi, it has been revealed that the assertion was untrue.
Daavi Deede, Proprietress of the 11-11 beans joint, a renown beans joint in Takoradi in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis (STMA) of the Western Region has refuted the claim describing it as a palpable lie.
She said it was never true that the late President Rawlings and his colleagues bought beans from her outfit without paying and urged Ghanaians to disabuse their minds on it.
Reminiscing the hay days of the late president in an interview with Spice News, Daavi Deede announced that her husband was a friend to Mr Rawlings who used to help ironing clothes for him (the husband).
She lamented that she received the news of his death with disbelief and expressed grief over his loss and how she would miss the former customer, especially his afability and service.
However, she consoled herself with the achievements of Mr Rawlings and what he stood for and said the country has lost a legend whose vacuum cannot be filled in the history of the country.
Spice News learnt that the atmosphere at the Central Business District (CBD) of Takoradi was generally calm as residents, commuters and traders were all shocked and contemplating about the exit of Mr Rawlings.
