Victims of Engyeresia accident discharged

Three occupants in an Audi 20T saloon car with registration number GE 1719 – 20 which was recently involved in an accident on the Engyeresia – Sekondi beach road have been treated and discharged at the Essikado Government Hospital. 

Meanwhile, the accident vehicles have been towed to the Western Regional MTTD yard in Sekondi pending testing while suspect driver, Issac Amoah with a Man Diesel Tipper truck with registration number GR 3097 – N has been arrested to assist in police investigations.

In an earlier report, eyewitness account at that the scene indicated a certain yellow truck loaded with quarry stones got spoilt some four days ago and left unattended to on the flank of the road which caused the accident.

Narrating the incident to Spice News, C/Supt Richard Appiah, Western Regional MTTD Commander said, on 21/10/20 at 1730 hours, suspect driver, Rebecca Bartels who was incharge Honda Jazz Saloon car with registration number WR 156 – 14 driving from Essipon heading towards Sekondi, whilst an Audi 20T saloon car with registration number GE 1719 – 20 driven by Suspect driver, Ellom Nyadzi aged 29 from same direction towards Sekondi with victims Olunayowa Ayodadi Cayo aged 28 and Nally GboGboGboe 25 on board. 

On reaching a section of the road at Ngyeresia, suspect Rebecca Bartels applied his brakes and stopped on seeing a Howo Tipper Truck with registration number GN 9075 – 17 driven by Suspect driver, Eric Nyarko aged 40 loaded with stones which had developed a mechanical fault and parked on the road.

Whilst waiting for the traffic from the opposite direction to ease and move, the Audi came and stopped behind him.

Suddenly, a Man Diesel Tipper truck with registration number GR 3097 – N driven by Suspect driver, Issac Amoah came from Essipon direction and ran into the rear portion of the Audi.

He explained that the impact pushed the vehicle to hit the faulty truck and it went further to hit the rear portion of the Honda causing damage to all the three vehicles.

To this wake, the victims were rushed to the Essikado Government Hospital where they were treated and discharged whereas accident vehicles towed to Western Regional MTTD yard in Sekondi pending testing.

Meanwhile, suspect driver for the Man Diesel Tipper truck was arrested to assist in police investigations.

C/Supt Richard Appiah therefore urged drivers to be extra vigilant on the roads especially in this time where the rains have set in coupled with the incoming December polls and Christmas so as to save lives.
