NDC devotee joins NPP as MP meets constituents
Mr Ebenezar Adom affectionately called ‘Master Jah’, a staunch member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Essikafo-Ambantem No. 2 Electoral Area in the Takoradi Constituency of the Western Region has officially giving up on the NDC to join the New Patriotic Party.
Prior to his renouncement, he has been a hard nut to crack in the NDC and a strong critic of the NPP government in the constituency going on radio to criticise some activities of the ruling government, especially in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
Master Jah has contested in the District Level Elections (DLE) as Assembly Member for the Essikafo-Ambantem No. 2 Electoral Area for about five times but to no avail due to the fact that he was a devout member of the NDC vying for the position in an NPP dominated area.
He has served the community in various ways like desilting drains and weeding around the community, mobilising the youth for communal labour and mobilising resources for communal labour among others.
Master Jah who announced his new found faith in the NPP administration at a mini rally held jointly by the party members at Essikafo-Ambantem No. 2 and No. 1 over the weekend, has been a one time Government Appointee to the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) in the NDC regime.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi Constituency pointed out that the various infrastructural projects in the region will create more job opportunities for the youth.
He reiterated that his focus for the next term as a legislator for the constituents is to create job opportunities for the teeming youth to trickle down to their families and improve their lot.
Mr Darko-Mensah announced that the Atlantic Port project as part of the Takoradi Port Expansion project will offer 30,000 permanent jobs to the youths in the metropolis.
He noted that the majority of the country’s fish stock comes from Dixcove in the region but has no processing factory to preserve the stocks and said plans are far advanced for the establishment of a fish processing factory.
He assured them that the water tank project meant to raise revenue for the community which has been stalled for years would be completed and handed over to the community before the end of the year.
Touching on flooding which is the number one challenge of the community, he mentioned that master plans have been considered to improve on the perennial flooding situation in the community.
He touted the social intervention programs of the NPP government like the free SHS policy which has given a lot of opportunities to so many children to go through secondary education who hitherto would have been dropped out.
He added that the free SHS policy has come to stay and further complemented with flexible student loan scheme terms to enable the majority of the SHS graduates to go through tertiary education with ease to make sure that no child would be left behind in education.
Against this background, he urged the party stalwarts to visit house to house to spread the messages of the party among their peers so as to garner more votes for the party to secure a resounding victory for the party in the December 7, general elections.
