NSMQ: Tarkwa SHS advances to 1/8th stage
Tarkwa Senior High School (SHS) (TARSCO) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly (TNMA) in the Western Region has qualified for the 1/8th stage of the competition scheduled for Accra on 20th September, 2020.
Tarkwa SHS beat fellow contenders, St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS and Bia Senior High Technical School (SHTS) to emerge winners from the Western Zone.
At the end of the contest, Tarkwa SHS grabbed 32 points, St. Mary’s Boys garnered 21 points while Bia SHTS got 18 points.
St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS and Tarkwa SHS become the first two schools to win the Prudential Life NSMQ Star, worth a total cash prize of GH₵ 2000.00 at the preliminary stage. They both made perfect scores of 10 in the Program of the Day.
With 21 points, St. Mary’s Boys’ SHS gets the opportunity to join the third contest as the top runner-up.
For the Northern Zone contest, St. Charles Minor Seminary/Senior High School grabbed 35 points, Damongo SHS had 20 points and Walewale SHTS had 17 points.
The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) seeks to promote the study of Science and Mathematics in Ghana. This program has been popular at unearthing local young scholarly talents since 1993, and was adjudged the CIMG TV Program of the Year 2017.
