Assembly Is Working Tirelessly To Fix The Road, MCE of Ahanta West Assures Residents of Amanful

The Municipal Chief Executive of Ahanta West, John Agyare has assured the residents of New Amanful of getting their road fixing.

This assurance comes from a recent protest staged by the residents on the state of their road, amidst numerous complaints.

In an interview on Beach FM, Mr Agyare revealed that the road was once awarded to a contractor, but he abandoned the project in 2021. He said all efforts to have him return to the site have not yielded any results.

“New Amanful and Funko roads have indeed been decorated. In 2021, that particular stretch was awarded to a contractor to start something on it. The contractor came on-site and started some grading works but later on left.

“All efforts to get him back to the site proved futile. What they are agitating for, I think they deserve it,”

“We are not idling around as if we don’t know what is going on. We know what is going on and we are trying our best to see how best this road can be fixed.”

Mr Agyare further revealed that plans are underway to reward the contract to a new contractor.

Touching on the arrest of 5 persons in line with last Tuesday’s protest, MCE Agyare mentioned that they have been released from police custody.

“On our level, we cannot just terminate the contract; all we need to do is report the contractor to the appropriate quarters, and we are of the view that there will be a solution to that.

The Regional Urban Engineer is also working on getting a new contractor on the road,” MCE Agyare added.
