DISINFECTION EXERCISE EMPLOYS OVER 80 YOUTH IN TAKORADI- MINISTER

Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah, Western regional minister and MP for Takoradi Constituency has said that the just ended disinfection exercise that aimed at sanitising major market centers in the region employed over 80 youth in Takoradi and 1680 in Western Region in general .

Expressing satisfaction about the excercise and its economic implication, he spoke about the significance of involving a local firm like Ami service to complement the effort of the Aslord Limited which has been mandated to champion the excercise across the nation.


According to him such partnership will enable Sekondi Takoradi to carry its own disinfection excercise in the nearest future since the over 80 youth involved in the excercise all hail from the Metropolis.

“All the other regions have had their share and it’s time for the western region. Aslord Limited is the Company in charge and well vest in the area for fumigation, I am glad they joined forces with a local company known as AMI service. Ami Services has also employed and trained local folks to join the excercise and these folks will be beneficial to the Metropolis in terms of a similar future domestic excercise.

Today’s excercise employed 1680 people across the length and breath of the region, For Takoradi, we are looking at 80 sprayers which might increase to 120 especially”.

He urged the general public to start producing their own nose masks by using their own cloth to complement government efforts toward producing more protective equipment to prevent the spread of covid 19.

The disinfection excercise started at Takoradi market Circle in the early hours of Monday, April 2020. The excercie targeted 115 markets in the region
