COVID-19: W/R TESTS 38 SUSPECTED CASES; 29 NEGATIVE

The Western Region of Ghana as at 2nd April at 09:00 GMT had recorded a total of 38 suspected cases of Coronavirus with 29 turning out to be negative and 9 currently pending for further investigations at the Noguchi Memorial Institute of Medical research.

Out of the 8 districts captured in the report, Tarkwa Nsuaem leads with 14 cases and 4 pending cases for further investigation.

Sekondi Takoradi follows with 9 cases; Ahanta West also with 4 cases which are all pending for final result. Effia Kwesimintsim also recorded 4 cases with a pending case for further research.

The following districts including Nzema East, Wassa Amenfi West, Ellembele, Prestea Huni Valley recorded 2,3,1, and 1 receptively with no outstanding case.

The deputy Director for Health, Western Region, Dr. Atsu Dodor confirmed to beachfmonline in an exclusive interview that the above statistics are the official figures indicating the status of the Covid-19 cases in the Western Region.

He advised the media to do further cross checks before putting out figures since “the situation is fluid and results could change at any point in time” .
