SPICE 91.9 FM MARKS 7 YEARS ANNIVERSARY WITH HEALTH SCREENING

Sekondi Takoradi and its environs have benefited from a Health Screening excercise that took place a day before at the Adu-Mante Health Post at Market circle as part of activities marking Spice Fm’s 7th year anniversary.

The event aimed at raising the general public’s awareness about the need to priotise their health and continously go for health screening for the purpose of improving their wellbeing.

Particiapants who paricipated in the event expressed high level of satifaction and appreciation for such an event. Ocran one of the participants shared his joy with Spicefmonline.

”I am Ocran, I came for the purpose of the free health screening, I have checked my Blood Pressure and Sugar Level, liver and kidney, I visited the doctor and after consultion he prescribed drugs for me for free so I am grateful to Spice Fm for this gesture”

The event also brought together some health providers in the Metropolis including Doctors in Service, Synergy Health Care and Kedi Health Service.

The health stakeholders who participated in the excercise shared their experience with regards to the Medical Trends recorded.

Docters In Service

The nurse in charge for Doctors in Service was Gifty Araba Ebu, she said that her ouftit screened participants for Blood Pressure, Sugar level, Malaria and Body Mass Index (BMI).

Speaking about some of major the Medical trends that were observed after the screening, she said that blood pressure and sugar levels were the major medical indicators that recorded higher numbers which calls for the need for participants within such bracket   to seek futher medical treatment.

“The program was a success, we got the opportunity to Screen in total of 125 participants and there were more people standing by to be screened but we were exhusted. Some of the participants   have not either checked their BP or suger level ever before therefore this was a golden opportunity for many of  them to know their status, we had about 20% of the participant with high BP and 10% with high sugar level who need special treament.We reffered some of them to the doctor at post for medication but they definately have to do a follow up to a medical facility for treament and monitoring”

Senergy Eye Care

The team was ably led by Karshialla Abbay who said that they screened over 65 to 70 people for various eye conditions.

Particpants who were screened for conditions such as Cataract, Glocoma and Pterygium all had the opportunity to be given medical advice for further consultation.

According to their records Cataract was leading eye condition with 25 participants reporting the condition followed by Glocoma and Pterygium.

Kedi Health care  

Luis Akumani from Kedi Health who led this team also shared his expereince with regards to their observations

”Today  we checked participants Blood pressure,  Suger level waist  joints and immune system, we also observed that many participant  do not go for regular check up till their condition get worse, many had waist problems and high pressure levels without been aware”.

My advice is for participants to constantly go for check up to check their pressure levels and take the right medication”.

He adviced participants  to minimise their intake of salt, sugar, fatty foods and control their level of anger when dealing with people.
