SHAMA DISTRICT :TIMOTHY HENAKU WINS THE PHYISCALLY CHALLENGED FARMER OF THE YEAR
As the Ghana Celebrates Farmers day aimed at rewarding the Contributions of Farmers in the Country to the Gross domestic product (GDP).
The effort Timothy Henaku, a physically challenged 46year old farmer who defied all odds to look beyond the norm of begging on the street to venture into
vegetables, cassava, Coconut, and Plantain productuon has been appreciated at the just ended 35th National Farmer Day Celebration held on Nyankrom.
The ‘Best Physically Challenged Farmer’ is a new Category which has been introduce into the scheme and he becomes the first ever physically challenged to have won an award in the category
Irrespective of his rare growth disability; which had impaired his physiological development, he defied all odd to start his farming business after he completed basic school in 1994.
In addition to owing two acres each of vegetables, and cassava farms,
he can also boast of an acre of Coconut and Plantain each together with other Agriculture Ventures.
He was reward with a refrigerator, a knapsack Sprayer, radio set, Half price of African Fabrics, two bags of limestone, three pieces of Cutlass and other agriculture tools.
