U/E: THREE NPP DCE'S OUT OF SIX WIN BID TO CONTEST 2020 PALIAMENTARY ELECTIONS
Three District Chief Executives (DCEs) out of six have won their bid to contest the 2020 parliamentary election in the Upper East Region after a stiff parliamentary primary on Saturday, 28, September 2019.
They are; Bongo DCE, Peter Ayinbisa, Builsa South DCE, Daniel Gariba and Bolgatanga East DCE, Emmanuel Abole.
Four (4) former parliamentary candidates for the 2016 elections namely, Boniface Gambila, Nabdam constituency, Abdulai Abanga, Binduri constituency, Thomas Dunaab, Talensi constituency and Rex Asanga were also retained as parliamentary candidates for the 2020 elections.
A total of 5,277 delegates took part in the election in the Upper East Region.
Speaking to Citi News, Upper East Regional Secretary of the NPP, Cletus Innocent Ayambire said, even though, the elections were generally peaceful, the exercise which was scheduled to start at 9:00 am commenced around 10:00 am due to late arrival of election materials.
Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, Nii Laryea Squire, commended the party for a peaceful election and admonished both winners and losers to dissolve their fractions and support the parliamentary candidates elected to win the seats for the NPP in the 2020 elections.
“There are no winners or losers, the NPP won in these parliamentary primaries. Let me urge all to support the elected candidates in whatever way possible to capture the majority of the seats from the NDC in the Upper East Region”.
In his victory speech, Bolgatanga Central parliamentary candidate Rex Asanga thanked his contenders for stiff competition and appeal to them to unite and support him win the seat for the NPP.
“We are sending a signal to the NDC today that, we are coming for our seat in 2020. We will take the seat from the underperforming NDC MP Isaac Adongo.”
“From today, there are no factions but a united NPP for victory 2020. Let us strategize and plan to propagate the NPP programmes and policies which have been beneficial to citizens to retain the party in 2020 to further relief Ghanaians.”
Bolgatanga East Parliamentary candidate and DCE for Bolga East, Emmanuel Abole said, having been marketed in the 2016 elections, he was confident of a resounding victory in 2020 considering the enormous development he has brought to the area.
He called on the rank and file of the party to work hard in synergy to capture the seat from the NDC’s Dr. Dominic Ayine.
