Jason Derulo sued for alleged sexual harassment by fellow singer

US celebrity Jason Derulo is facing allegations of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed by a singer, Emaza Gibson, who was signed to his record label.

Gibson claims that Derulo terminated their working relationship after she refused his sexual advances. She is suing him for various complaints, including quid pro quo sexual harassment, breach of contract, intimidation, and violence.

Gibson, 25, filed her complaint against Derulo, 34, in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging that he made false promises of success and then denied her opportunities. She has expressed feeling  “traumatized” and anxious due to the experience.

According to court documents, Gibson says that in August 2021, Derulo offered her a contract with his label Future History, and they began working together in November of the same year.

However, she alleges that he repeatedly pressured her to socialize with him and made explicit demands for sexual favors in exchange for career advancement.

She also claims that he mentioned a bizarre ritual called “goat skin and fish scales,” involving the sacrifice of a goat and cocaine use, and that she was plied with excessive alcohol.

Gibson’s lawyer, Ron Zambrano, described Derulo’s behavior as despicable and stated that he broke promises, breached contracts, and made illegal threats and sexual advances toward the young artist.

In response, Jason Derulo denied the allegations in a statement on his Instagram account, expressing his opposition to all forms of harassment and affirming his commitment to supporting people pursuing their dreams. He also voiced his offense at the defamatory allegations.

Emaza Gibson, whose contract with Atlantic Records was terminated in September 2022, is seeking damages for unpaid wages, loss of earnings, deferred compensation, emotional distress, and employment benefits.

She has named Derulo, his manager Frank Harris, Atlantic Records, RCA Records, and Derulo’s Future History imprint (a joint venture with RCA) in the lawsuit.
