NIGERIAN MOVIE INDUSTRY ONLY BEATS GHANA WHEN IT COMES TO MARKETING AND DISTRIBUTION – JOHN DUMELO
Ghana’s award winning actor John Dumelo has asserted that major challenge of Ghana’s Movie Industry is the lack of Creativity when it comes to Marketing and Distribution of Movies to larger audience .
Speaking on Accra based Starr FM’s Morning Starr , Dumelo who is also gunning for the parliamentary candidate slot of the NDC for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency said that apart from movie premiering and television stations that show Ghanaian movies, there are no digital platforms that serves movie audience beyond the traditional platforms.
‘‘Nigerians love Ghanaian movies and Ghanaians love Nigerian movies but our problem is that we have not been able to reinvent our marketing wheel; the consumer is shifting from digital Cds to digital online platform. Nigeria have Yoko TV but I am not sure Ghana has an online platform yet therefore Ghana is losing out though Ghana is producing quality movies ’’
Reacting to his recent participation in a cleanup exercise which circulated on social media which many felt it was for political gains , Dumelo stated empathically that it is was a kind gesture he personally extended to a women group who invited him to join them for such an exercise.
