BAWUMIA ANNOUNCED AS HEADLINE SPEAKER FOR EVIDENCE TO ACTION 2019 CONFAB

The International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) is delighted to announce that the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and head of Ghana’s Economic Management Team, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would be the headline speaker at the Evidence to Action (E2A) 2019 conference.

The conference is to be held at the University of Ghana from 9-12 July 2019.

Since he assumed office on 7 January 2017, Dr. Bawumia’s tenure has been defined by the astute leadership he has shown in influencing the development and execution of economic policies that have elevated Ghana’s economic position on the continent.

Dr. Bawumia embodies the notion that responsible and accountable leadership is a driver of economic growth and creator of jobs and therefore development.

Dr. Bawumia is the natural choice as a headline speaker for the E2A conference, which has adopted the theme of “Responsibility and Accountability: Strengthening Evidence Generation and Use in Support of Policy Reform and Development Agenda.”

He brings his experience as a renowned world scholar and a person who has held senior positions in the government such as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, among others.

He understands the challenges and opportunities facing African economies and how these can be turned into tangible benefits for the African people.

Also attending the conference is the Dr. Akoto OSEI, Minister for Monitoring and Evaluation, Ghana.

The aim of the conference is to identify and discuss accountability and the responsibilities of stakeholders in the use of evidence to improve development impacts.

It is being hosted by the International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED), the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), the Ministry of Monitoring & Evaluation, Office of the President, Ghana in partnership with the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Assets and Market Access, the Campbell Collaboration, and other partners.

The conference targets government institutions, policy makers, development professionals, researchers, evaluators, and additional stakeholders.
