Wilson Arthur explains why companies don’t want to invest into Ghana football

Chairman of the Western Region Sports Committee, Wilson Arthur has revealed the main reason why companies don’t want to invest into football lately.

In his speech delivered at the maiden edition of the Western Regional Sports Committee Inaugural Colloquium, the owner of Skyy Football Club said those running football in the country have been labelled as thieves and hence the reason why the popular game is not getting companies to invest into it.

“At first we had companies employing people as sportsmen, we use to have cooperate games and it was wonderful, we have stopped all that”.

“Companies do not want to invest into football because those running football have been made to look like thieves, the media calls us all kinds of names” he revealed.

Wilson Arthur who has brokered deals for some football clubs and the the national division one league revealed some of the feedbacks he had afterwards.

“I remember the shock of my life, Kotoko needed money, I got sponsorship from MTN for them, and the next day I heard my name on radio as if I had gone to steal money and when I did the GN bank sponsorship, it was even worse, people labelled me as Kwesi Nyantakyi’s school mate, so he has done “connection” for me”.
