Revenue derived from Sekondi Sports Stadium is not enough – NSA Boss
Director General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi has revealed revenue derived from the Sekondi Sports Stadium is very limited to an extent that it can’t even be used to pay for even sanitation.
The sports stadium which was inaugurated in 2007 ahead of the 2008 African Cup of Nations has been left in a sorry state and has made the people of Western Region asking why.
Reacting to the state of the stadium, Professor Peter Twumasi indicated that the only avenue his office get their revenue from is through gate proceeds during football games and it is very low.
“When we had put together the Essipong Sports Stadium, attendance was very low, the National Sports Authority derives it’s revenue mainly from gate proceeds, the number of people who attend games is low.”
“Sometimes the money we raise from gate proceeds can’t cover the cost of even sanitation let alone paying for extra cost of hiring extra hands to assist the security and the medical officers” Professor Peter Twumasi said.”
