NIC TO TRAIN 10,000 AGENTS – COMMISSIONER OF INSURANCE

Business Today is reliable informed that the National Insurance Commission (NIC) will be train ten thousand insurance agents this years.

The move according to the Commissioner of Insurance Justics Yaw Ofori is to recruit professional insurance agents into the system thereby creating jobs for ten thousand youth in the country.

In an exclusive interview with Business Today, Mr Justice Yaw Ofori said, “this is going to be a pull for insurance companies to fall on whenever they want to employ.”

“Last year the Ghana insurance commission injected 1.3million towards industrial training, this year we have added 1.5million. All this will be used as a source of income to train these ten thousand agents across the country at the expense of the Commission,” he emphasized.

According to Mr Yaw Ofori the NIC is also in talks with the National Insurance Brokers Association and the Ghana Insurance Association to create a fund that will be used by the collage to run training for industry players thereby building their capacity as well.

The ten thousand insurance agents he said will be trained through the Ghana Insurance College.
