Architectural designs for Edzii interchange on going -STMA Mayor
Some inspection and design works has commenced for the construction of an interchange at the Edzii (PTC) Roundabout and dualisation of adjourning roads, Mayor for the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) Anthony KobinaKurentsir Sam has said.
Government in her 2018 Budget and Economic Policy indicated that an interchange will be constructed at the famous Edzii roundabout (PTC) also known as Kwame Nkrumah Circle, here in the capital city of the Western Region.
The Mayor, Anthony K.K Sam in his address at a Town Hall meeting organised by the assembly ain collaboration with Friends of the Nation (FoN), held at Sekondi today, stressed that work on the project will soon take off.
Mr Sam adds that”, the New Takoradi Road is under construction and will be extended through New Takoradi by the Joshua Church Area along railways to Takoradi Containers Terminal (TACOTEL) to the EffiaNkwanta Hospital Mortuary Junction.
He remarked the execution of these projects will bring significant improvement to the economy of the city.
Speaking on other road infrastructure projects the metropolis will undertake this year, Mr Sam noted “the CDH and West African Mills Company Limited (WAMCO) roads will be awarded on contract this year”.
He stressed the construction of these roads will bring some relief to drivers and pedestrians who ply the Sekondi to Takoradi main road.
Mr. Sam adds that some other roads, such as the Apremdo, Race Course and Mount Zion Area of the Kwesimintsim Constituency are undergoing construction.
Additionally, he noted “the contractor (ASEBEA Construction Limited) for the Fijai – EffiaNkwanta road has also promised to move to site and complete the road in the next few weeks”.
