Takoradi Technical University (TTU) mauled University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) 69 baskets to 19 baskets to win zone two slot.

Skipper Richard Tetteh Donnor led TTU to an impressive performance against UMAT at the TTU Basketball Court as the 2016 semi-finalist lifted the slot to the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges(UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration(GIMPA) and Ghana Technology University College failed to turn up to the occasion leaving the two schools [TTU and UMAT] to battle for the ticket to represent Western Region.
The Tarkwa based tertiary institution [UMAT] turned up to the occasion with twelve men to meet the side which has five of the players used in the 2016 UPAC Games – Ibrahim Adokor Attipoe, Richard Tetteh Donnor, Samuel Abbey, Dennis Antwi and Ricco Ampaw have been part of the team for the past three years.
It was clear from the onset the hosts will be turning the visitors’ hand to their back – Power Forward, Ibrahim Adokor Attipoe made 10 baskets in the first quarter to ensure a safe 18 – 5 baskets.

The second quarter saw TTU increasing the urge to secure the torch. There was no chance for the young UMAT side led by “Panya” to turn the game on its head. TTU led the half 40 – 14 baskets.
The etched TTU side, surely not possible to be stopped made additional 29 baskets in the second half to win it 69 – 19 despite firing blank a basket full of free throws.
