SSNIT Increases Maximum Earnings To 42,000 Cedis

Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has increased certain premiums paid on behalf of workers effective this year.

A statement issued by management indicates that the increase has been done in consultation with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) and by section 6033 of the National Pensions Act 2008, Act 766.

According to the statement, the maximum insurable earnings for 2023 have been increased from 35,000 to 42,000 cedis. The minimum insurable earnings have also been reviewed upwards from 365 cedis 33 pesewas to 441 cedis 76 pesewas.

This follows an increase in the national daily minimum wage.

The statement continues that effective January 1,2023, the maximum and minimum contributions payable to SSNIT will now be Five Thousand Six Hundred and Seventy and Fifty-Four Cedis and 24 pesewas respectively.

SSNIT is urging employees and contributors to ensure that the right contributions are paid.
