Janet Egyir powers Black Queens to win WAFU Women's Cup

Center Back Janet Egyir’s second minute strike was enough for Ghana’s Black Queens to snatch from the jaws of Cote D’voire the WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations trophy.
Ghana’s Black Queens are champions of the maiden WAFU B Women’s Cup of Nations making amends for their open day 1:0 lost to Ivory Coast.
It was a repeat of the opening day fixture, but this time Mercy Tagoe’s lads were resolute and took the lead through Janet Egyir, her third of the competition as Ghana rounded up a 0:1 win in front of the home side.
The first of its kind competition will become Black Queens’ second major trophy in any competition. Ghana will add to their 2015 All African Games gold medal.
Black Queens scored 14 in the competition and conceded 3 in 5 games.
Skipper Portia Boakye finished as Ghana’s topscorer with 4 goals.
