Faustina Ampah powers Black Queens to victory against Super Falcons
Ghana’s Black Queens secured a final slot in the WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations urging out Nigeria’s Super Falcons 5:4 on Spot Kicks after ending regulation time 1:1.
Head Coach Mercy Tagoe named an unchanged starting eleven(played against Burkina Faso) against the Super Falcons.
Alice Ogede sent the Nigerians ahead just 8 minutes into the game before center back Faustina Ampah powered in a corner kick to cancel Alice Ogede’s 8th minute goal in the first half.
The second half saw both sides misfiring in-front of goal as the game ended 1:1 after regulation time.
The two nations took turns on spot kicks and Ghana nailed it scoring 5 out of 6 kicks compared to Nigeria’s 4 out of 6.
The final will now be a replay of the opening fixture between Ghana and Cote D’voire on Saturday, February 24.
Nigeria will play Mali for the Bronze Medal.
