President Nana Akufo-Addo has suspended the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Sulemana Alhassan, for his role in Wednesday’s disturbances at the Regional NADMO office.
The Minister allegedly instructed the police to release NPP thugs who had been arrested for invading the regional NADMO office and destroyed public property.
The presidency announced on Thursday that the minister had been suspended pending the outcome of investigation into the unfortunate disturbance at the Upper West Regional NADMO office Wednesday.
The statement signed by Communication Director the presidency, Eugene Arhin, reiterated the President’s commitment “to the application of the laws of the land, which must occur without fear or favour, affection, ill- will and without recourse to the political, religious or ethnic affiliation of any citizen of the land.”
The statement said the Deputy Regional Minister, Amidu Ishaq, will act as Regional Minister in the interim, pending the conclusion of the investigation.
