Heads Of Schools To Submit Lesson Hours of Teachers To Reduce Inefficiency

All Heads of Schools are instructed to submit the number of teachers as well as the respective teaching hours of teachers to the Ghana Education Service (GES) latest Friday, July 8, 2022.

This is according to the Western Regional Education Director, Mrs Felicia Agyeibea Okai. This action, she said is to rationalize and ensure equity in the education system across various institutions in the region.

Mrs Agyeibea observed in some schools that subject teachers were in excess and are under utilised as other schools lack teachers.

She made this revelation in an interview with Spice 91.9 FM, it was observed that teachers in some schools were not working the minimum 20 periods as stipulated by the GES.

She mentioned that” in as much as teachers are demanding better conditions of services as a result of a surge in cost of living, it is prudent to ensure equitable distribution of teaching staff amongst the schools.”

Mrs Okai called on Union leaders to speak against the underutilization of teachers as a way of enforcing productivity on the part of teachers.

She blamed the poor supervision of teachers on the heads of schools, and other external bodies responsible for monitoring and supervision of teachers.
