Mogtari blames NPP corruption for Bawumia’s campaign failure

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, has blamed corruption within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the failure of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign.

In an appearance on Channel One TV’s Face to Face program on Tuesday, Mogtari stated that the Akufo-Addo-led government’s failure to address corruption eroded public trust and negatively impacted Bawumia’s prospects.

She also criticized President Akufo-Addo for disregarding the concerns of Ghanaians, adding that his attempts to support Bawumia’s campaign only made matters worse.

“Corruption is what destroyed Bawumia’s campaign. His boss [President Akufo-Addo] wasn’t listening to the people, and every time he tried to campaign for his Vice President, it backfired,” Mogtari asserted.

Mogtari implied that a different candidate might have fared better, but Akufo-Addo’s involvement exacerbated the situation. Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, came under scrutiny over his leadership, with mounting concerns about governance and transparency under the current administration.
