Ghana’s Black Stars erstwhile right back, John Paintsil insists Black Stars after missing out on the qualification to the 2018 World Cup must win the 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations.
In a group with Egypt, Uganda and Congo Brazzaville, the Black Stars of Ghana failed to make the cut as Egypt snatched the only available slot to the 2018 Mundial in Russia – Egypt’s first since 1990.
According to the former Black Stars right back, the senior national team must win the Africa Cup of nations in Cameroon, 2019.
“Yes we stand a big chance of winning it because this World Cup qualifier has opened our eyes. We should have learnt from our mistakes and to turn things around we must win the 2019 Afcon. It is compulsory and a must win cup and this is what the players must understand,” John Paintsil told ghanasoccernet
Ghana are currently chasing a fifth trophy in the Cup of Nations and have failed to do so since 1982.
