2017 WAFU Kings Up for Hearts of Oak Player of the Year Award

Accra Hearts of Oak have released names of players in contest for last season’s player of the year award; the list is dominated by players that won the 2017 West Africa Football Union tournament.
Versatile skipper Thomas Abbey, midfield sensation Winful Cobinna, winger Patrick Razak and defender former Vincent Atinga are the four in contest for last season’s prestigious honour.
Supporters of the club will vote on these names to ascertain the one who eventual merits as the team’s best player for the 2016-17 season.




Hearts of Oak finished the season; third on the Ghana Premier League log and disgracefully beaten 3:1 in the final of the MTN FA Cup though posed as favorites prior to the game against rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The club released a statement on the website with key stats of the shortlisted players.
The Statement read:
We have nominated four players for the Hearts Player of the Year 2017 award.
Patrick Razak, Thomas Abbey, Vincent Atingah Adae, and Winful Cobbinah have been nominated for their stellar roles with the club in 2017.
Patrick Razak: Played 25 matches in the league; scored two goals and assisted three goals. He scored two goals from five appearances in the FA Cup.
Thomas Abbey: He played 26 matches in the league and scored 13 goals. He scored only a goal in five matches in the FA Cup competition.
Vincent Atingah: He played 27 matches in the league and scored five goals. The defender also scored three goals in five matches in the FA Cup competition.
Winful Cobbinah: He played in 15 matches in the league and scored four goals and provided 8 assists. The midfielder played in four FA Cup matches.
