St. Johns fall big time as Ahantaman maul West Africa SHS

St. John’s School received heavy beating whiles Ahantaman Girls Senior High School jumped above West Africa Senior High School in the first round of games in the opening day of the Sprite Ball Championship.
Male region winners St. John’s School lost its opening game of this year’s competition falling 19-34 to St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School.
St. John’s won bronze at the last edition and were heavily tipped to beat the Accra side who failed to qualify to compete at the December 2016 edition.
In a tough group alongside Koforidua Senior High Technical School and Prempeh College, John’s qualification to the quarter finals has been hampered.
On the other hand, female representative from the region, Ahantaman Girls Senior High School had no problems in its tie.
The Warriors clinched a 27-10 win over West Africa Senior High School in a straight forward win for the team to clinch its first win of the tournament.
Clinching the win coupled with a loss to defending champions Wesley Girls High School puts Ahantaman in line to progress from Group A.
