GFA takes responsibility for Russia World Cup failure

The Ghana Football Association takes full responsibility for the Black Stars inability to qualify for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia according to its vice president Mr. George Afriyie.
The Black Stars will be absent when the world gathers in Russia for the World Cup during the summer after a disastrous qualifying campaign that saw the team fail to win a single game at home, picking up just 7 points and leaving Egypt to capture the sole ticket from Group E.
Vice President of the country’s football governing body Mr. George Afriyie believes the entire qualifying campaign could have been managed better.
“The FA needs to take the blame and we have to accept that things didn’t go well.
“It is only right that we take responsibility because when there has been success we have attributed it to our hardwork,” he told local radio station Asempa FM.
Ghana made a first FIFA World Cup appearance in 2006 in Germany and went on a run of three appearances, famously joining Cameroon and Senegal as the only African countries to make the quarter finals in the 2010 edition in South Africa.
