'Visitor shutting door at club hero'-Bekoe fires back at Steve Pollack
Former Asante Kotoko and Sekondi Hasaacas striker Eric Kwabena Bekoe has responded to Kotoko coach Steve Pollack’s decision not to offer him another chance to make a return to the Porcupine Warriors in a stinging social media post.
Bekoe was expected to rejoin Kotoko after been spotted at the club’s Adako Jachie training grounds before coach Steve Pollack named his squad for the CAF Confederations Cup. The move however did not materialise, with sources claiming that Bekoe was asked to go through a trial before being handed a contract,a situation the player was unhappy with.
Head coach Steve Pollack revealed that he asked the attacker to join the team’s training session to enable him assess his fitness but Bekoe only trained with team on two occasions and never returned.
“I personally asked Eric Bekoe to come over, I told him I wanted to observe his fitness but he only came for two training sessions which wasn’t enough to take a decision on him.
“He should have acted professionally because if anything he could have consulted me, but took to the media and that’s it, giving him another chance I don’t think so,” Steve Pollack told Nhyira FM and was quoted by ghanacrusader.com
However in a Facebook post by the forward he lamented a lack of respect by Pollack in the manner he’s been treated, saying that “visitor shutting door at once a hero of a club and also son of the land lord”.
Bekoe wrote “As this issue came out about me n kotoko i have been mute till i came across this story. Eiii Ghana!! visitor shutting door at once a hero of a club and also son of the land lord. Kesane ba moko ny3 awiee ayoo. Ohohoaa oto abontin poomu mate wai. keep the keys I wld sleep outside till my father return” – the former Asante Kotoko attacker scribes.
Eric Bekoe’s status as a Kotoko hero is undoubted after powering the Porcupine Warriors to Premier League glory and emerging top scorer in the 2007/2008 season.
