Health Ministry To Repackage Shama Polyclinic Contract

The Health Ministry is considering terminating the contract on the Shama Polyclinic.
Beachfmonline is reliably informed that the Minister of Health, Kweku Agyeman Manu who paid a working visit to the facility was not pleased with what he saw and threatened to terminate and repackage the contract to get the project off the ground.

The Ministry of Health awarded the contract for the upgrading of the Shama Health Center into a polyclinic to Messrs. Bremu Limited in 2004.
But after the Ministry pre-financed the project to the tune of GH¢160000, the contractor abandoned the project in 2006, due to lack of funds.
Messrs Abeiku and Company Limited, which was financially supporting Bremu to execute the project, subsequently took over the same year.
Messrs Abeiku spent an additional GH¢100,000, bringing the total expenditure to GH¢260,000.
Unfortunately, Government was not releasing money for the project, so the project has stalled since then.
Speaking to Beachfmonline, the Shama District Chief Executive, Joe Amoah indicates the NPP administration is determined to see to the completion of the project since it will significantly help with health care delivery in the District.
He mentioned the assembly is considering using it share of the One million dollar per constituency to support the project.
“We are hopeful that the facility will be captured in the ministry’s 2018 budget so that it will finally see the light of day. Meanwhile other sources of funding are being explored such as the one constituency one million dollars facility to get this strategic project as early as possible to benefit the people of this district.”
The DCE also mentioned, the assembly will be extending water supply to the upgraded Lower Inchaban CHPS Compound.
“The lower Inchaban CHPS compound has been upgraded into a health centre, bringing the total of Health Centres within the district to four.
