Poor road network, a major hindrance to agriculture – DCE


As part of measures to boost agriculture production in the Sekyere Afram Plains District, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere Afram Plains Joseph Owusu popularly known as “Odenkyem”, has assured chiefs and people in the area that government together with the assembly has rolled out measures to fix the deplorable roads in the district.
Sekyere Afram plains according to the DCE is a predominant farming community and the bad nature of roads in the district has drawn back the progress of the district.
“These roads when constructed will help boost economic development in the district.”
He however employed farmers to adopt improved modern methods of cultivating crops and rearing of poultry as well as other farm animals in other to create more jobs for the upcoming youth in the community.

Meanwhile, the DCE, Joseph Owusu later announced some 43 communities in the district will soon be connected to the rural electrification project which will also contribute meaningfully to so-economic well-being of the people.
Joseph Owusu who was speaking at the 33rd National farmers day celebration at Anyinofi in the Sekyere Afram plains district, Ashanti Region ahead of the Friday’s 1st December 2017, national farmers day celebration.
It was under the theme “Farming for food and jobs”.
Akosua Nyarko Bampo a hard-working farmer emerged as overall district best farmer for 2017.
