Yusif Chibsah: PFAG head gives reasons why Ghana Premier League is not attractive.

Head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana[PFAG], Yusif Alhassan Chibsah has reiterated what is already in the public domain that the Ghana Premier League is not attractive and added some key notes which could help better the upcoming season.
Chibsah who has been on a campaign to see a minimum wage of GHC 1,000.00 as an average wage for a Ghana Premier League player claimed their era players weren’t in a rush to leave Ghana to other African countries as it has been the case now.

The 33-year-old claimed he was in no rush to leave Kumasi Asante Kotoko to any club on the continent though offers came from Tunisia and other African countries. His reason being that he was content with his salary, bonuses and the gifts showered on him by the fans.
“If the players are not earning good money, they have no choice, in our time at Kotoko, most of us had offers from neighbouring countries: Tunisia, Morocco and others because we were all the time engaging them in the CAF competitions. We were not so anxious to leave, we had the aim of moving to Europe than to Tunisia or Morocco, but if my pay is not enough and a Zambian club is offering me USD 2,000 I will leave.” Yusif Chibsah said on Beach 105.5 FM’s Friday Night Football
Yusif Chibsah spent three seasons at Kumasi Asante Kotoko(2003-2006) and was part of the team for the historic CAF Confederation Cup Final which Kotoko lost on penalties to rival Accra Hearts of Oak in 2004.

The Prempeh College old boy claims the Ghana Premier League isn’t attractive compared to their era and a major factor is unable to maintain good players in the league.
“We need to engage all the stakeholders, we are complaining, people are complaining, fans are not seeing the need to go to the stadium, that’s one factor, there are no good individual players, like today, I’m going to watch Charles Taylor, Stephen Oduro, Chibsah or others.
“This is one of the reasons our league is not attractive, this is one of the reasons cooperate bodies are not willing to put money into sports, because it’s not attractive. So why can’t we all join hands, package ourselves very well, put a minimum wage bill, like say GHC 1,000.00.
“So if a Ghanaian player is earning GHC 1,000.00 in addition to bonuses, they should be able to manage rather than leave to Zambia for all those maltreatment and others.
“If we should join forces, come to an agreement, put together proposals for sponsorship we’ll be able to secure that. We need to find ways and means to retain our players in the local league.
