Ronald Jojo Duncan: Owner of Proud United Urges PFAG to Meet Club Owners on Player Salaries
Owner of Division One League side, Proud United, Ronald Jojo Duncan has urged the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) to meet Division One League owners on the salaries of the players.
The Zone 2 campaigner is in the same line with Head of Player Relation of PFAG, Yusif Alhassan Chibsah that there are certain players in the second on the Ghana club football pyramid earning nothing at the end of the month and there should be an elevation of a sort to help the players.
33-year-old, Yusif Alhassan Chibsah on Beach 105.5 FM’s Friday Night Football reckoned that there are certain players that play for free in the Division One League [Professional League] – “Some Division One League Players don’t even have salaries, they sacrifice and some play for free. It’s unfortunate that I cannot mention names, but that’s a fact,” Yusif Chibsah said.
In a country that the minimum average wage of a worker (Professional Football) is supposed to be between GHC 7.00 – GHC 8.00 adding up to at least GHC 210.00 at the end of every month footballers in active work go home with no salaries.
Ronald Jojo Duncan replied to the story in a WhatsApp group (GH GN BANK DOL PAGE) chat that, “They[PFAG] should engage Division One Club owners for a solution”.
When asked whether the campaign by the PFAG Head of Player Relations is in the right, Jojo Duncan said, “Yes, We must all try to do the right thing.”
Yusif Chibah played for Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Kumasi King Faisal in the Ghana Premier League and has been on a campaign to set a minimum wage of GHC 1,000.00 to Ghana Premier League players.
