Takoradi to have an Interchange by 2020
A modern interchange perhaps one that would supersede those in urban settlements in the country is to be constructed in the Oil-City of the Western Region.
The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta in his presentation of the 2018 Budget disclosed that the edifice would be constructed at the Pioneer Tobacoo Company Roundabout, now the Kwame Nkrumah Roundabout, near the Edzii Goil Filing Station within the next three years of President Akuffo Addo’s government.
The erstwhile Mahama Administration made the same promise but failed to fulfill it.
The Finance Minister enumerated some roads and bridges that would be constructed by government in the next three years.
The Mayor for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, Anthony K. Sam in recent times assured residents of government’s consideration to construct interchanges in two major areas; the Paa Grant Roundabout and the Kwame Nkrumah Roundabout.
With some degree of certainty residents and businesses are informed on which among these two would be undertaken in the coming years of the NPP government.
Some transport operators in the metropolis who spoke to Beach 105.5 news after the budget reading, indicated the initiative is laudable.
They say the city deserves a face-lift as given their sister cities in the country. However, the recommended some measures are put in place to manage traffic that might ensue in the cause of the project.
