We Need More Mechanised Boreholes Powered by Electricity not Solar alone –Assembly Man, Effiakuma East Electoral Area

The Assembly Member for Effiakuma East Electoral Area, Isaac Badu Nkansah has called on all community stakeholders to come to their aid by replacing or complementing the current existing boreholes in the electoral area with an electric source of power instead of solar as the only source power.

According to him, the Solar powered boreholes in the communities are not currently functioning therefore anytime there is a shortage of Water from Ghana Water Company it becomes a challenge for the communities in the area to access portable water.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Spice News, he said that one of the reasons for the current water shortage in his electoral area has been the available borehole which uses Solar energy as the only source of Power.

“In fact the Member of Parliament for this constituency, Joseph Cudjoe has constructed some of these bores holes in areas such as Astoria, Effia, and effiakuma, but the unfortunate thing is that these mechanised bole holes are solely powered with solar energy which becomes a challenge when its source of power fails. We will advise the authorities to construct boreholes that make use of both Solar and Electricity to power to avert the impending challenge.

Mr. Isaac Badu Nkansah called on authorities to replace old underground Pipe Lines and spoilt pumps in the various communities to ensure effective Flow of water.

The Assembly Man spoke about a discovered Land space on the Effia to Road to Fijai within the enclave of a   Timber firm on the stretch which could be used in constructing a Dam, according to him some experts have assured him that   “the newly discovered source of water can supply water to the entire community even when the Pra River which serves as the Major source of Water for Ghana water Company seem not to be producing adequate quantity of water”

He appealed to Government, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and the Effia Kwesiminstim Municipal Assembly(EKMA) to support his effort toward securing a safe Dam that has the potential to supply water to the communities in the electoral area

The community currently relies on Private water Tankers for water supply any time there is water shortage
