Owner of 2016-17 Zone 2 of Division One League Champions, Karela United Football Club, Senator David Cobbina Brigidi has assured the whole of Western region that, his side, Karela United FC is in the league to make the Western region proud.
Cobbina Brigidi who acquired full ownership of Metro Sporting Club some 3 seasons back is of high hopes that his side, Karela United Football Club will be making the whole of western region proud when the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League commences next year.

“I’m seriously humbled by this kind of honour, strictly speaking, I also felt that I don’t deserve it when I was informed. There are front bearers who have climbed the banner of Western region in football circle in the country prior to my coming to the game.
Brigidi claimed he refers to himself as one village football administrator, meaning he wants to work hard at the village and transcend the height down to how the nation is being regarded off the shores of the country.

“When you go out of this country and show your passport, people ask you about Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew , Michael Essien and other footballers. If you mention any of our leaders, they’ll ask you, does he play left back”.
“I’ve labelled myself, one village football administrator. For us at Karela we’ll do our little bit to support it, we are building our own stadium, it’s a global game that we’ve joined and we are here to make impact.

“On behalf of myself, the great Karela family we assure Western region that we will, we are not going to be one of the clubs that will come and go back, we are here to make the Western Region proud.” –  Senator David Cobbina Brigidi
Karela Football Club earned the sole slot available in zone two after a successful season which saw them gather 73 points out of 30 matches. The Nzema based side are yet to lose a match after 30 league games at the Cosby Awuah Memorial Park across the 2015-16 season and 2016-17 season.
