ELUBO BEGS FOR QUALITY HEALTH CARE

Residents of Western regions border town Elubo begs for quality health care delivery as the only Government health centre in the area lacks basic health care delivery logistics such as drugs and other amenities to aid the administration of health care to the many people who depends on it for health care.

Elubo Health Centre

Kevin Alan Lee once said, “In my opinion, our health care system has failed when a doctor fails to treat an illness that is treatable.”
Same, can be said about the only health Centre in Ghana’s border town, Elubo here in the Western Region.
Today, Elubo bleeds of quality health care delivery for the many patients who depends on it for effective health care service, a helpless situation for residents.
As the structure becomes weaker by the day, the facility has equally run out of space for specialist to operate though they have created extensions.
The dilapidated structure with staff accommodation called the Elubo Health Centre sits on a hill just a kilometer away from the Elubo border in the western region.
And this is where residents of Elubo and 15 adjourning communities as well as foreigners from neighbouring Cote D’Ivoire turn to for health care.
Since its establishment in 1992 the Elubo Health Centre has not seen any major renovation even though the Out Patients attendance in the facility has shot up tremendously due to the growing population of the area.
Today, residents in Ghana’s border town Elubo in the Western Region say’s they have lost faith in the health care delivery system at the Elubo Health Centre.
Before filing this report, the Assemblyman for the Elubo electoral area in the Jomoro District told me in a telephone interview that no amount of renovation will salvage the health needs of the people in Elubo. According to him “the Elubo Health Centre needs to be upgraded to at least a poly Clinic status immediately if we are serious about promoting trade among ourselves as West African States” he added.
In an attempt to understand what the administrators of the Elubo Health Centre is doing to improve the situation at hand, the Medical Doctor at the Elubo Health Centre could not speak to me because he said, he is not mandated by his authorities to speak on this issue.
Meanwhile, until help comes residents of Elubo will continue to cry for a better health care delivery service in this stinking deplorable health facility.
The End…
