LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah has had a school named in his honour, the former AS Roma and Chelsea Star helped with his brace to help his country qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1990.
The 25-year-old has been on a superb form for the Pharaohs in the World Cup qualifiers, helping them secure a place in the 2018 World Cup with five goals.
Salah has had his former school in Bassyoun named after him after yesterday’s 90+5 minute goal against Congo Brazzaville which ensured his country has a pass even if they lose game week six against Ghana.
Egypt had been 1-0 up against Congo thanks to a strike from Salah before Arnold Bouka Moutou equalised on 87 minutes.
The draw would have ended their hopes of a place at the World Cup finals, however, Salah had other plans as he converted a 95th-minute penalty to win the game 2-1.
Speaking after the historic win, Salah said: “I can’t really express how I feel.
“I don’t quite talk so much but I’m really proud. Today we realised a long-awaited dream.
“That was to me a dream come true, whether as a footballer or an Egyptian citizen and fan.
“I’m proud I made the Egyptians happy today by scoring today twice against Congo.
“The game was a difficult one tonight and all the qualifiers were difficult games as well, today there is no big difference between every team and the other.”
