Christian Atsu scores first Premier League goal against Stoke City.
Ghanaian winger, Christian Atsu registered his first Premier League goal as Newcastle secured third straight win against Stoke City at the St.James Park.
Atsu wrote his name on the scoring sheet in the 19th minute, tapping in a cross from Matt Ritchie to give Rafael Benitez’s men the lead with 30 minutes played.
With 56 minutes done, Swiss attacker, Xherdan Shaqiri find the back of the net for the visitors wanting to inspire some hope for Scottish manager, Mark Hughes’s side, but skipper Jamaal Lascelles ensured the host gathered all points.
Matt Ritchie produced another assist for Jamaal Lascelles who restored Newcastle’s lead in the 63rd minute and ended the game 2:1 for the Magpies.
Atsu failed to score during his spell at Vitality Stadium with Bournemouth, Goodison with Everton and failed to even make the cut at the Stanford Bridge with Chelsea.
The Ghanaian joined Newcastle on a permanent basis from parent club Chelsea on a fee of £16m and has so far earned a goal and an assist with five games honored in the topflight.
Christian Atsu has featured in all Premier league games for the Magpies winning three out of the five games.
