Christian Atsu shines in Newcastle’s big win against West Ham.
Christian Atsu had a third consecutive Premier League start against Andre Ayew’s West Ham United, at the St James Park, helping Newcastle United to gather all three points in a dramatic 3:0 victory.
After failing to score in the first two Premier League games, Newcastle United new signing José Luis Sanmartín Mato was played through beautifully by Christian Atsu, which resulted to Newcastle’s first goal of the season.
Ciaran Clark added the second in the 73rd minute before second half substitute, Mitrovic added the third to seal the all-important victory for the, Magpies, in the 86th minute.
Christian Atsu had the opportunity to increase the tally to four, but failed in his quest to go pass right back Pablo Zabaleta.
Fellow Ghanaian, Andre Ayew did not finish the game for West Ham United as he was replaced by Sakho in the 70th minutes.
Raphael Bernitez’s Newcastle secured first victory – Slaven Bilic’s will have to wait till match day 4, securing just 1 point from the first three games.
