A thing is assured, front men(attackers and midfielders) alone aren’t going to get the job done.
Back men contribute a lot to a manager’s success – a goal or an assist from a back man can catapult a manager to grabbing the tabled prize. Not forgetting rewards that comes with securing clean sheets, so it all adds up.
Chelsea’s defenders absolutely dominated in fantasy football last year, with Gary Cahill, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta claiming the one, two, three positions respectively, sure you do want to make up your mind.
The summer’s £50 million man Kyle Walker was fourth on the list but the Manchester City signing came some 28 points behind Antonio Conte’s boys.
Some might be surprised to find Liverpool’s James Milner among the top five, but he scored seven goals, provided four assists and kept 12 clean sheets, as well as featuring heavily for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
It’s slightly less surprising to see Everton defender Leighton Baines in the top 10, given he has consistently been one of the best performers in fantasy football for some years – barring last year’s blip.
How to spend.
Goalkeeper – Find a comfortable goalkeeper prized at £6.0, one that can assure clean sheets and a back up ranged £4.5 – £5.0. In all don’t spend more that £11.0 on goalkeepers.
Defenders – Clean sheets must always come first when selecting defenders. Your five defenders shouldn’t cause you more than £23.5.
Midfielders – Where most of the cash must be thrown at; flexibility in attack, creativity and overall potency upfront. Find a comfortable £10.0, a double of £7.0, find £8.0 and a £5.0 to back up. Cost £37.0
Scorers – In the bank is £28.5 which must be enough to get yourself three scorers. We don’t waste time on blank poachers. Your match week transfers must be used when the form of an attacker is on the decline.
